There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is not legal. Eight casinos are established in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel complex that features numerous luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 table games.
